From September 13th to 15th, 2024, the picturesque city of Lausanne, Switzerland, became the epicenter of cutting-edge discussions in glial biology, as the first ASPIRE Glia grant-supported symposium took place.

The meeting began with talks by young and senior scientists from leading labs in Switzerland, Germany, and Japan. These talks set the tone for the event, covering cutting-edge topics such as glial cell signaling, brain plasticity, and their roles in neurological disorders. Each talk sparked lively discussions among the participants, showcasing the vibrant exchange of ideas.

Interactive workshops allowed young participants to collaborate on specific challenges in glial research. By combining diverse cultural perspectives and scientific expertise, these sessions facilitated creative solutions to pressing issues. Researchers worked in small groups, exchanging ideas and building new connections across borders. Senior scientists provided constructive feedback, fostering mentorship and inspiring the next generation of researchers.

Networking events such as informal social gatherings provided opportunities for researchers to connect and exchange ideas. These sessions played a vital role in fostering collaborations and building a global glial research community.

The shared enthusiasm for advancing glial science was palpable, leaving attendees inspired and motivated. As participants bid farewell, there was a shared optimism about the future of glial research and the partnerships that will continue to grow from this event.
